Lyrics

OPEN UP YOUR DOOR

Words and Music by Deborah Jeanne Weitzman ©2016

Open up your door, don’t let it stay
Forever locked inside you
Just because they told you
You can’t sing doesn’t mean they know what they’re saying

You don’t know who bound their wings
You don’t know who stole away their sky
So they never fly

Open up your heart
There’s nothing worse then staying blocked within you
Just because it seems
It’s not the means to really find what you’re after

Don’t let them bind your wings
Don’t let them steal away your sky
So you never fly

The life always looks blind from the outside
Hard to see with the naked eye
That it’s their lack of vision
Not your mortal sin/ Your song is hidden; precious like a hymn

Don’t let them steal away your sky, don’t let them think they can
There’s nothing more to try to do or understand,
Like a bird in a cage, or a butterfly on a pin. You’re aching to begin

Open up the door
And dare to sing with all the truth that is in you
That is the key to set you free so you can fly forever
With wings unbound
Way beyond their clouded sky
That’s where you’ll fly

RIGHT HERE

Words and music by Deborah Jeanne Weitzman©

In the dawn when its early morn I can see you – Oh I know its you
By the feel and the way I heal, there’s no doubt
You’re my song, you’re so nice and warm
Like a fine hat, I can see that
Now it’s right in the morning light, now I know

And I know that Clouds will come
winds will blow, and then they will clear
I’m fine right here

By this shore by this gorgeous shore
There’s a warm breeze and a feeling of
Something rare, like if someone’s there who can see
Want to know, want to feel the glow of the wise one
Without watching
Want to stand, in the damp cool sand all alone
Chorus:
I hate how time to make you feel so wrong
When I just want to be alright and strong.
Want to take a chance and find romance,
Want to sing & dance, without the fear
I’m fine right here
In the night, by the pale moon light I can see you – Oh I know its you
By the feel and the way I heal, there’s no doubt
You’re my song, you’re so nice and warm
Like a fine hat now I know that
it’s right in the pale moon light oh I know
I know that clouds will come
Winds will blow,
Storms will rage, and then they will clear
I’m fine right here

Lie Awake

Words by Bill Greenwell and Deborah Jeanne Weitzman
Music by Deborah Jeanne Weitzman © 2007

I lie awake, trying not to make a sound
Thinking that you are also not sleeping
Perhaps you are I am mistaken
And its just the leaves on the trees that you’ve shaken down

Are you dreaming the sun coming in like a stream
And the day as a heart that won’t break
While I lie awake wondering why
You seem so sleepless

I get up and stand beside the door
Wondering if you can hear what I’m thinking
I guess not ‘cause you lie there as cool as a lake
And I just can’t believe how you can sleep now

I know that the morning won’t give me the words
or the meaning I’d like them to have
oh they never do

and you, are you dreaming the sun coming in like a stream

and the day as a heart that won’t break
Why I lie awake wondering why
You seem so sleepless

Perhaps I am mistaken
And you are really sleeping
And it is just the leaves on the tree that have shaken down.

Touch the Sky

Words and Music by Deborah Jeanne Weitzman © 2007

Sometimes I need to go there and I don’t know why
Sometimes I need to leave the earth and touch the sky

But I never dare to fly away
I’m much too scared to fly away
And you can not lie every time I see you
And one of these days I may just believe you

Whenever I try there’s a door that closes
You tell me there’ll be an opening.

And the power that I need when I’m afraid.

Sometimes I need to break down
And I don’t know how

Sometimes I need to fall apart and touch the ground
But I never dare to let it go
I’m much too scared to just let go
But you can not lie every time I see you
And one of these days I may just believe you

That I shouldn’t try when a door is closing
To trust there’ll be an opening.

And the strength that has been lacking is right there beneath my skin,
just under the struggle to hold in.

Sometimes I need to go there and I don’t know whySometimes I need to leave the
earth and touch the sky.
